There are times this company ceases to amaze me with their archaic load planning and operations. Hometime scheduled for Thursday, got a call this past Friday from my DM going over my particulars for the load I was loading in Sparks, delivery date and time and reload to the house.
Yesterday I check in at 3:45pm inquiring about a preplan. My DM goes home at 4pm so I figured I’d get in touch with him before he goes home. Response? He’s working on it. Ok, I let him know I’ll be dropping the trailer in Macon last night.
This morning I get a text from him that I have to sign my yearly MVR or the world will come to an end. Get the fax number and send it to him along with a simple question, load assignment? Response, he’s working on it. So off to the shower I go, then sit and have breakfast at IHOP. Meanwhile, I go to the fuel desk and pick up my fax, all 8 pages at $1.25 per page. I’m ok with the cost, the receipt for reimbursement is being sent in.
Here’s the kicker about this, I’m on a safety hold until I send this back in. Really? You people with your infinite wisdom couldn’t take care of this yesterday while en route? You waited until I’m empty, with hometime to shut me down until I sign this? My DM just called to ask me if I got it and sent it in, told him I have it, but I’m eating breakfast, he told me they won’t release me until I send it back in. I asked him if I don’t what will happen? He said I’ll be on no dispatch until it’s sent in. I then asked him if that’s so, can I walk across the street to the Enterprise place and rent a car to go home? He thought that was funny, trust me, there wasn’t a humorous part of what I asked him. If anyone wants to deal with a bunch of bass ackward people, come to work over here. That’s all I have. I still haven’t sent it in yet. I’ll get around to it. What a flucken joke this place has turned into. My biggest priority right now is to mark off another day on my calendar. One more day closer to my unemployment.

The Production Manager at a Newspaper where I once worked had a sign on her wall that read something like “Poor Planning on Your Part does NOT equate to an Emergency on My Part”
She pointed to it A Lot… LOL
Anything fun to do in the area? I wonder just how long they would keep a highly productive driver setting OOS… -
I actually thought the same thing. I took my sweet ### time in the shower, then had breakfast, then went and cleaned out my trailer. Then sent the fax back to safety. I did call down to safety and voiced my displeasure on the way it was mishandled. But of course, it fell on deaf ears.48Packard, JoeyJunk, jarhead0311 and 4 others Thank this. -
Picked up at Anthony in Sylmar, CA. Place was a hot mess when I got there. Typical place that was not built with modern sleepers and 53' trailers in mind. Was made even worse by the fact that 6 other trucks showed up all around the same time AND there was some construction taking place at the corner which made it hard to navigate.
Got there at 11:15 for a 13:00 appointment. Sadly, my early arrival availed me naught. Left at 13:45 and made my way to Barstow. Currently nestled down at the TA.
Load is going to the Hill-Phoenix plant a mile from the Richmond yard, and it's not due until Monday. Think I'm gonna pitch up at the Petro in Grants, NM for a 34.jarhead0311, Lonesome and MidWest_MacDaddy Thank this. -

Got home Wednesday after spending 6 hours at a Pepsi distributor 15 miles from the house in Riviera Beach. Always enjoy getting jerked around on my load home. Wound up with 4 hours detention.
On my way out the gate I got a message from my DM asking if I would take a trainee out when hometime is over. It was answered without hesitation with a resounding no. Those days are history. Then like the good used car salesman approach, I was told I’d be giving up an extra $500 per week plus the extra miles. Best response of the year was, there’s some of us out here that don’t need that extra money and that brain damage. I’m much happy and content driving solo. I’ve seen what’s coming through the revolving doors of orientation, I don’t need my name on any of it.
