I like to know has there been any federal legislation that would create a lane of traffic separate from the main Highway even though it could be right next to it just for trucks? That would prevent any fatal accidents with Passenger cars. What I saw yesterday was just absolutely horrifying. Several cars that were crushed beyond recognition. Thankfully only two to three vehicles were involved and one death. It's even worse and devastating during the winter when there's ice involved and fog? I also like to know if truck drivers have any kind of sensors that constantly measured that the distance between the truck and the car and give warnings to stop? The accident that occurred the other day in Tacoma on Interstate 5 was an intoxicated truck driver. Is there any kind of legislation that would require the truck driver to breathe into a breathalyzer? It wasn't too long ago maybe a few weeks ago at the same time a FedEx contractor sideswiped a road worker killing him instantly. You actually was not a road worker he was a tow truck driver. And that driver was also intoxicated?? I can't wait for the day that trucks are being controlled by autonomous driving computer systems. It is proven that it works extremely well in China. On YouTube you can watch as autonomous shuttles that is shuttles that drive passengers has no driver and drives down the highway system taking them to their bus spots. Also the city buses are driverless and they will actually pull up into the charging stations automatically and charge before they go on their next shift? Driving a vehicle whether it's a car or a semi is being controlled by two laws. The laws of physics and the laws of geometry that's it. That's all it needed to take a semi from one location to another. It uses the various series of sensors that's including GPS, laser range measurements, radar measurements, computer vision AI. This is most of the sensors used by the Tesla except it does not use laser range. It would certainly make our highways much safer that's my firm belief!

    wouldn't work.

just like the NJTP (New Jersey Turn Pike) there are car lanes and truck lanes.

trucks CANNOT be in the car lanes, but cars CAN BE where ever they wanna be.

There are early warning systems and automatic braking systems in some tractor-trailers.
Problem is, many drivers refuse to work for companies that have those systems.

Ban cars from the truck lanes and I would be all for it. I’d definitely be interested in seeing what accident statistics look like on that particular stretch of road after a year or so as well.

If you really want to cut down on fatalities, take everything from your post and apply it to cars.

Ok, who will back the truck into the dock then after it arrives? How will that work for those of us who unload our own truck? What happens when that truck with no driver pulls up in front of your house with the furniture you ordered?

Simple. Now that means YOU have to unload it.

“But, but.... I paid for liftgate service”.

Sorry, people wanted trucks with no drivers so you’re SOL.

there would have to be several police chase cars, maybe cameras, to mail out tickets, maybe SWAT teams with LARS rockets or bazooka's, to make sure 4 wheelers stay out.

    ain't gonna happen....

UNLESS extra monies are spent, to have tolling gates at easch end, that way, 4 wheelers can be ticketed on the spot, then turned around.

A hostler is one possibility. Or a trained warehouse worker at places that don't have a dedicated hostler. There could be staging areas outside of cities where an actual driver could take it the rest of the way. The computer just has to get it close to the destination.

What about the Jet Blue and Northwest pilots that were 3 times over the limit in the ####pit ready to fly when they were arrested.
Lets get them there own lane to , id be more worried about the homeless people setting up there tent in your front yard and taking a dump in your driveway.
