Seems like it would be a pretty gravy gig... just bounce down the road and smash some trash...

Bet the dumpster companies are loving that!

Unless they’re the ones doing it to save trips it would take away revenue from them by using less dumpsters

    D.Tibbitt, W923, Dave_in_AZ and 2 others Thank this.

Sure, until they get one packed so heavy he can’t pull it up on the truck.

Our dumpsters around here usually work by the ton with a minimum tonnage charge.
When everything is brand new the smasher would be great. When the pins in the boom and the roller start to wear I see some pot bellied dumpsters in their future.
What happens when they jam so much crap in there that it wedges solid and won't come out?
One of my friendly competitors does dumpster work and it presents unique problems. Like dead winos in the dumpster that nobody sees until they get to the landfill.
Driver inattention could cost you too.

This reminds me of when I used to work in a warehouse, we had trash and cardboard bins scattered around, and the janitor would go around and empty them into the compactor throughout the day. We had one janitor that always got mad when people threw empty boxes in the bins without flattening them, because “you can fit more in the bin if you flatten them,” he would say. So instead of just emptying the stupid bins, he would just go around and flatten all the boxes that were in the bins and then leave them. He spent more time flattening boxes than it would have taken to just empty the #### bins. LOL
