Well, we certainly tried to keep the ice here, got about 1/8" covering everything. No school around here, going to wait until at least mid-morning before we do anything. Then the first order of business will be getting the tarps to open. Fun. I can't wait.
The weather system had the expected effect on the cows, they had 3 calves in the last 6 hours.
Be careful Big John. I would bet if you stay on the interstates and main highways you'll be fine.

The highway doesn't seem too bad now, our gravel road getting up to the blacktop is another story. A sheet of wet ice. We didn't do a thing today, didn't see any point in even trying. I did open the tarps this afternoon, was pleasantly surprised they opened with hardly any trouble. Don't know if we'll haul tomorrow or not, going to wait and see.

Dairyman, does this happen to your cows too or am I crazy? -
At least that's how it seems to go out at my friends farm,...dairyman Thanks this. -
,i think it has a lot do with the weather changes and pressure. The last spell when it turned real cold, the first night we had 5 calves,2nd night 3 more hit the ground, hope this helps, rag. i am beginning to think walleye may be right though,Murphy's Law is hard to argue with around here at calving time
RAG Thanks this. -

Well I missed the ice got in and out of Chicago yesterday morning and down to Indiana and reloaded and headed to Arkansas before it hit, just some fog. I unloaded in a bad part of Chicago and was told by the customer not to come in their until morning so I trucked in there about 9am and it looked ruff during the am hours I can just imagine when the sun goes down. Seen one hooker walking to my right and when I got closer I hit the train horn and I thought she was going to crawl up that brick wall, she was cussing me and telling me I was no. 1. lmao.
Loading rice at Gulf Rice in Crawfordsville, AR going to Mechanicsburg, VA for tomorrow.
RW I hope your getting thawed out and staying close to the fire. I had a tall hopper trailer one time that had so much ice on the tarp I had to get on top of the tarp and beat the ice off so I could load. -
As Bart Simpson would say AY Carumba! ! !
