Hello, there is no better place than to ask the professionals this question.....we are leaving NB and heading to BC...can someone tell us the best route for the following:

    1) to get through Montreal without getting into the city.
    2) to get through Ontario and the best truck stops to stay at with a travel trailer

I really do appreciate your time and expertise!
    Thanks,
    Deborah

Take 30 around MTL. It's a toll road. I assume you are taking the Trans Canada through Ontario. Ottawa-North Bay- Sault Ste Marie_Dryden. Arnprior truck stop ( Antrim) west of Ottawa has a enough area to share with tractor - trailers. Park at the end of the dirt lot near the service garage. I wouldn't park at the North Bay truck stop ( Bay truck stop). There is a Walmart before you climb the hill. Try their lot. Walmart in Dryden is popular with travel trailers. Drive safe.

The majority of truck stops in Northern Ontario have closed over the last 20 years. Modern truckers have fridges and microwaves, only stopped to use the restroom or park for the night. Then leave without spending a dime wondering why all the truck stops closed. They mostly stop for Tim Hortons which never has parking, and parked at other local businesses (Walmart Dryden), dumped garbage on the ground, ran over concrete curbing and light poles, then wonder why there’s no truck parking.
Best to just use any camp sites that may be open if you’re going this early.
Reasonable truck parking can be found at Nairn Centre, Sault Ste Marie, Wawa, White River, Nipigon, Thunder Bay, Dryden, in the town of Kenora but nothing on the bypass.

If you can avoid Canada go down through the US.

    Faster highways and cheaper fuel.
