You better make some noise, and a lot of it. You should make anyone that thinks speed limiters are a good idea drive their car up and down the 401 across Onterrible for a week and experience the ####show they’re about to create. We don’t have near the number of trucks on the road that you do and it made our highways unusable and dangerous. Trucks weren’t blocking the highway driving 6’ from one another two lanes wide for miles, or leaving the road and crashing 27 at a time before limiters. They won’t admit it, but it’s obvious. Speed limiters with the number of trucks down there will make all the highways more dangerous and effectively close the Interstate System, and anybody but a moron that thinks there’s votes in it should be able to see that.

Not to be insensitive to people who have lost their lives in accidents or families that have lost loved ones, there is a basic truth here. No matter how many restrictions that are implemented. You will never be able to eliminate the possibility of serious injury or death on the roadways of America. It's an idealistic dream.

Just like ELDs, this is only going to be implemented for most vehicles.... not all. Pre-computer trucks for example will be exempt.... at least from the setting. Whether they will have to abide by the rule, I dont know. I would assume so. If your caught, I am assuming there will be additional violations in addition to speeding.
So, I am pretty sure there will be other exemptions just like the ELD regulations.
But, we'll have to wait & see. From what I understand, that's what they are doing now is getting all the rules etc together. None of this has been worked out specifically yet.
Otherwise, the ones that are under the regulation will be governed by the computer just like ELDs are.

I have seen something posted occasionally, on this forum about a devise that DOT can use to check if the speed limiter is in place during a DOT inspection. I don't know anything about it personally.

true, but the ones in the state house, making these laws, or at least pushing for them, makes THEM feel better.

Speed limiters, Engine Control Units, ABS and Stability Control Sysytems all used to be mounted between the left seat and the steering wheel. The highways were a lot safer then.

See those "minimum" speed limit signs? Use them.

They made a mess when it was decided you could be a truck driver even if you can’t drive a truck. That was mistake #1 and everything they’ve done since to address the problems that created just added to it.

My personal feeling is that mayor Pete is in way over his head as transportation secretary.
Why is a mayor of a midwestern town qualified to run these agencies...?
