I advocate for the Volvo Ishift too. I am running one of those now. I think Volvo is the best truck anyone can buy in this era.

If it’s like the ones I have been exposed to it’s a turd until it decides to do something and then it’s so aggressive though the first couple gears that every thing is going to be sloshing like crazy.

I drove an auto years ago, it had buttons on the dash. Then about 4 years ago, I was hit while parked in a dock in Jessup, Maryland. I rented a Penske tractor that was an automatic while my tractor was being repaired. It literally took me 5 minutes to find out how to put the darn thing in drive. I was too embarrassed to go back inside and ask how to do it and I couldn't find the operating manual.

Surge. Trucks I drove wouldn't hold onto a gear and would shift too soon. Acid weighs 12-14 lb/gallon and when it surges it hits hard. When you have a manual you can skip gears and basically make the surge non existent. With my 10 speed manual I shift 2-4-6-7-8-9-10, sometimes skip 7th downhills.

I have a 10 speed Manuel in my current truck and don't feel that it makes me superman .
If on the off chance I replace my current truck the next will definitely be an automatic.

Recently started driving an auto. Volvo. I'll never go back.

It's just a really big car. Perfect for city P&D

    Oh I LOVED An Auto-Shift.
It Was Glorious to SLAM DOCKS Because No Variance in Throttle Action.
It Was Wonderful To Be UNABLE To Select Gears Or Ability To Run Gears A Bit Higher Than The Preset Nanny Designs.
It Was Exciting To Not Be Able To Take Off In 4th or 5th On Slippery Surfaces.
The Best Part Was Rampant Shifting Up & Down On Winding, Hilly, Country 2 Lane Back Roads In To Effectively Overheat The Transmission.

The BEST Auto-Shift I Drove, For About 6 Years, Was A 2013 Freightshaker Walk-In Condo And It Had A Clutch Pedal And It Wasn't A Pansy Clutch, So Stop-n-Go Traffic Kept Me Awake.
