Edit: I forgot to mention, a lot of his long distant communication is due to propagation too. It isn't just his radio.Last edited: Apr 30, 2022

I have the Connex CX 36HPF
I’ve had it about a year and seems to be working good. I’m guessing I get out pretty good. With not so many using a CB I go quite a while with total silence. I forget it’s even on most the time until I hear pilots escorting oversized up the road, OR a backup somewhere.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -

Yeap mark is runnin power and yeap alot of the times his super duper range is momma nature..Even so he does really good with the 955 barefoot and that 8' stick he uses..

Ssb is added expense..I think if you like to play with the radio ssb can be fun but one hand on the mic and one on the clarifier is prolly asking for it..
So best to stick to 19 while driving
And ssb while not.. -
Back in the 70's I was in a 3000 sq. foot metal roofed building with stanard whip antenna and a 4 wat cobra and I could talk skip all over the
US and some foreign countries. Amplifiers are not needed with a good ground plain.Timin770 and Another Canadian driver Thank this. -
If you're new to radio communication and want a simple, easy-to-use option for short-range communication (e.g., local travel or off-roading), a standard CB radio is a good choice.
On the other hand, if you're interested in longer-range communication and are willing to invest the time to learn the additional features and possibly obtain a license, then an SSB radio might be more suitable, especially if you plan to communicate over greater distances.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.
