Going through the training program at KLLM Transportation. I have now been riding with my trainer for exactly 3 weeks out of 6 week OTR training for Solo OTR. I am doing average 3500 miles per week(my miles). Trainer is doing about the same. We only stop early in the morning, about 2-4am for a few hours. My trainer calls it balls to the walls training. I asked my student rep if this was normal, and she replied that it is if that is what the trainer does: if it is normal for him, then it is. When I got on his truck, he told me I would have 2pm to 2am shift and he has the 2am to 2pm shift. Yesterday, I did 671 miles and it was difficult HWY 54 all night . It is now 3 weeks into 6 week training for OTR training and I have really been working hard and learning a great deal. I am a very healthy man, but unfortunately I have developed a constant cough like my trainer has and I am getting run down and tired all the time. I am trying to eat well, take vitamins, and only drink water and coffee. Is there anything I can eat or do to help with my decreasing health? I really want to succeed. Any advice is appreciated!!!

Coffey, JolliRoger, H3R3T1C and 7 others Thank this. -
Are the both of you drinking the same water? Making coffee in the truck from the same coffee maker?
JolliRoger, Trucker61016, Boondock and 3 others Thank this. -
There isnt enough room to social distance in a truck so thats what happens.
Good thing your healthy but dont worry it wont last, your health that is.Lohse, okiedokie and Another Canadian driver Thank this. -
A persistent dry or productive cough may be an indication that you have developed bronchitis.
Check in at an urgent care center. If you are given what is called a 'Z' pack, beg them to give you two and not just one.The_vett, JolliRoger, Sirscrapntruckalot and 3 others Thank this. -
wash your hands, or use hand sanitizer frequently.
wipe down the trucks controls like steering wheel, shift, everything, when you start to drive. maybe use Lysol.
if he doesn't like it, tell him you were not sick, until he started coughing.Lohse, JolliRoger, Val_Caldera and 2 others Thank this. -
What is going on it is not normal training.
It's slavery, to be blunt. You are not learning anything.
You are just used and abused.
You should drive 11h max, pre-trips and fuel stops for another hour max per day. 10 h resting.
And learn and practice about load securement, weights and dimensions, hours of service, trip planning.
Navigation, defensive driving, mountain driving, backing up and pre and post-trips.
You should be able to have time to ask questions, lots of questions about everything you learned.
And rest. You need a lot of rest. while the truck is parked.
Talk to your Linehaul Manager (or Recruiter) tomorrow and ask him to change trainers ASAP.
This is insanity. Copy and past my message and email it to him.
Your trainer should be in the passenger seat for 6 weeks supervising you, making notes
and discuss with you all your mistakes and how to correct them and make you better.
Do not agree to this any longer. Get out now. Ask them to make changes or get out.
My honest advice.
Good luck.LtlAnonymous, SMK Shoe, Bizzarrogeorge and 19 others Thank this. -
training should be?
Anybody else on TTR forum can join in in helping the trainee with real advice about how he should be trained?
The abuse he is taking is unreal.
Please help him.
Thank you. -

STOP it right now.
Do not cooperate with this any longer.
His incompetent student rep should be fired and the company should be sued.
Contact the nearest MD and get a diagnostic about your new medical condition.
Document everything and talk to a lawyer.
Do something now.LtlAnonymous, The_vett, training and 3 others Thank this.
