How many of you have pre-2000 tractors or glider kits with pre 2000 engines? Is it worthwhile especially with the upcoming speed limiter mandate which will inevitably pass. The OOIDA opposed E-logs too but the ATA is the only voice Washington will hear so the ATA always wins.

Is a cheaper to fix (albeit always in need of repair) truck worth it? Yes

Eld exempt is nice i guess, what im happier with is the relative simplicity of the truck/engine

Take the time to voice your feelings on the speed limiter during the comment period. The more voices they hear, the better, I hope.

Thank you, so it's basically like cars then. Old ones are cheaper/easier to repair, easier to find parts for but are a never ending project that always needs something? Makes sense, as the owner of a 1982 Chevy pickup I can definitely relate to that and am seriously considering going that way with a tractor.

Oh I'm definitely on it. I was on it with the E-logs too but we lost then and I'm pretty sure we're going to lose again. I don't see us ever being able to compete with the ATA.

I'm still holding out hope. E-logs don't really bother me but the idea of a speed limiter really really bothers me, and I don't even speed and usually drive just below the posted limit already.

Which engine would you recommend for having the best ease of maintenance and parts availability? Is the CAT 6NZ a good engine?

I like my 99. Glad they left that loophole. Hopefully there'll be some loopholes in the speed limiter mandate but it's doubtful there will be full compliance on that one regardless. There's lots of "outlaws" already not complying with EOBR mandate as it is and nobody cares.

    I fully support outlaw truckers.
