I know there’s may different opinions but I’m looking for some knowledgeable advise. Rebuilding a MXS and have decided I’m going to do the 16:1 low compression kit and 800hp cam. From there is it better to leave the twins, tune it and delete the ivas or do the full 6nz conversion. Injectors, ecm, single turbo, manifold. Wanting to run around 650-700 hp

I know absolutely nothing about doing a conversion. What I do know, is that there are a bunch of folks that do them and then have issues. What I see causing problems, is that not everything is getting done to the conversion to make it correct. In other words, just trying to hop up an engine and not throwing all of the time and money into the job. I am sure there are many conversions that went well, but there are certain mechanics that are going to read this and recall the ones that didn't go well.

I have factory twin turbos for the BXS. Works really well. No smoke, good low end power, and good response.

This is exactly what’s going to happen if you single turbo it..

If you’re gonna single it out, do it right. Don’t go cheap! This means getting rid of the IVA’s, putting a 6NZ harness on it and changing all of the sensors and ECM too. If you put a 201-2677 cam in it and a 78mm turbo you’ll have an excellent running Cat. Find someone knowledgeable to tune the ECM and drive the truck decent and you’ll have power to spare compared to an ACERT and mileage too.

That’s a BXS. Twins are on it and the vva’s work. It runs pretty good.
