The first thing I'd like to point out is the title of this thread is "Halvor Lines, no longer worth it". In the OPs opinion, Halvor used to be a good company but it's growth has resulted in a decline in quality.
Secondly, I don't think about Halvor much. It's not that I have a negative opinion of them, it's just I don't think about them at all. What I do object to is people who think the "Best Fleet to Drive For Award" means anything. Or that CSA/SMS/BASIC data can identify "good" or "bad" carriers, let alone indicate if a company good to work for.
Third - crappy companies can grow. Just look at F2F or CR England. Having a successful business model is not the same as building a good company.

What sucks about many posts on forums is that one person who has absolutely no experience with a particular company can come on here and offer an opinion on something, and that's all it is, an opinion.
The next guy to post comes on here and takes that opinion and runs with it with no insight, nothing factual to say other than what the previous person's opinion was.
So when someone asks that they want to hear from drivers who have actual experience with a company within the last couple of years, that's what they're looking for, not a bunch of rumor and hearsay. -
From what I've heard... no, information received from other people that one cannot adequately substantiate is not what most people are looking for unless you like to feed off gossip.

Any helpful information you can offer on Shipex good or bad? My husband and I are about to switch to them. Anything is helpfulNeed4Speed Thanks this. -
I directed a Halvor driver where to enter our yard to unload. Spoke to him for a bit and he was very happy with his job...newer KW pulling flatbed,,,told me he had been scoring high dollar percentage loads and many loads into Canada the past 2 years. His Full load(4 pieces on trailer and less than 20Klbs) was going on one of our decks for a mine up north...I don't have a opinion on the company.

Halvor tries to force their new drivers to run Canada while the old crusty snitches that have been around for years do nothing.
This company is very sneaky. First 2 or 3 loads given to new hires are easy runs, after that things change and it's all downhill. That includes low pay. Look how many reviews of Halvor mention low pay.
Once again AVOID and if you don't believe me try yourself you will find out real fast..Need4Speed Thanks this. -

This is why it's so important to be very skeptical when researching companies. I asked how long the last person leaving a review has worked for a company, because you always want to hear from people with first hand experience.
You don't want to hear from people who have heard something said from someone's neighbor or the guy in line waiting for gas. Most reviews are probably from someone who has an axe to grind with a company because that person fell short of a company's requirements. -
In this case it's first hand info, we were there less than a year. Ended up quitting not being put out.
Regarding Canada, 10 months up there it's not safe driving because of weather. Then the OOS rates are high there. Look at their record which is why nobody wants to go there. No extra money either.Need4Speed Thanks this. -
So you worked as an Owner/Operator, not a company driver. You state to check their records, what records are you talking about? Driving in bad weather conditions is part of the job so that's not a legitimate complaint.
I see that their pay is low but for someone just getting started in this profession it's a pretty good deal from what I see.
