So long story short I was gonna deadhead home from Cleveland rather than do a LS load but I let my wallet make a decision instead of just coming on home. I done a load from LS last month not a bad at all 700 miles $5200..... sent in the bills(by the way anyone who does loads for LS, can you email the invoice somewhere?)
So fast forward yesterday I was in Cleveland and seen a load coming to within 200 miles or so of home. I emailed and spoke with someone from the agency and he told me he'd let me know 8am next morning(this was after 5 day before) Ok so 8am comes and he does get ahold of me, I told him Id give him until 930 to let me know. 930 comes and goes...... so at 1030 I told him never mind, and that I was leaving the area. And I started headed south.......
About 15-20minutes later he messages me with the rate confirmation and asked was I gonna pick it up....I told him no..
So he has CC'd me in on a conversation with Landstar Operations saying the shipper had to move the item to be staged and is charging LS $800 a day until picked up. And wants LS to charge me $500 a day until its picked up by another carrier. I dont respond to any of the emails because they aren't to me per se. I get last email I received when I was asleep last night said they had the load covered by another carrier for a far lesser rate(I dont doubt that) as next time when I "order" a load that I, as a carrier need to stick to it, as I made them look bad to their customer.
I dont remember the agency but, this is the difference between a good agency and a not so good agency at LS. After I told him I wasn't gonna pick it up and left the area, he says well if the load hadn't been good(while I was waiting for rate con) that they would've paid me a TONU(mind you without previously signing a rate con)
Nice try Landstar.....

Did a high value load not long ago, first the destination changed. Not much about 14 miles, but I wasn't even asked or called, just sent a new rate con with a large "FYI" at the header.
Then get phone call asking for details where I planned to stay, blah. Supposedly the customer was concerned.
First thing I said was have a team do it so it's baby sat if they're that worried.
So get it all ironed out, everyone happy, load delivered, no problems.
Dude doesn't even respond with a thank you.Lite bug, jldilley, BennysPennys and 15 others Thank this. -
sounds like the broker trying to drag you thru the mud. i would've told them "you are making yourself look bad by not following my directions and being honest with me when I told you to let me know by 9:30 AM , and if the load wasn't ready, then I was heading out of the area. I did my part. you DIDNT do yours, so don't blame your bad business on me."
the brokers always place the blame on the carriers when the brokers fail to do their job correctly. We are an easy scape goat at all times. I wouldn't let it bother you. Just annoying as hell.
Good on you for not bending over !! so many guys would have.jldilley, bzinger, jamespmack and 21 others Thank this. -
On the other hand if, I would've waited longer and the load was no good, I would've had absolutely no shot at a TONU for waiting. -
