Guess it’s an age thing. Between ‘75 and ‘85 most fleet tractors down there had Cummins/Cat/Detroit 290’s and 9 speeds. They were everywhere, you couldn’t be around trucks and not encounter one. Up til ‘95 or so there were still lots of those around, but that’s a while ago now.

Well I ended up buying the 2003 Pete with the 6NZ. The engine is a 1999 date code so I am good on ELD/Speed Limiter if that happens. All paperwork on the inframe with only 55k miles on it. Super 10 has 10k on it and it’s new not a reman. Clutch, Tires, Brakes, and all fluids are at 10k as well. She is turned up a little hot (660/2300) so I am having her turned down to 550 as we speak. I took that ugly ### wing off the sleeper and removed a ton of lights already. Lol. Thank you guys for all the insight.

I'd say chances are better than not.

It's going to be tough to get the ecm to communicate with our B models though.

No one thought the E log deal would happen either. I think when you split hairs on a 6NZ they are all under the E-log mandate even the couple thousand with a 99 build date.....they are all 2000 model year engines but I could be mistaken probably am. Awful funny every 6NZ I see advertised seems to have the low serial number. But we all believe what we choose to believe.

    Oxbow Thanks this.

there’s easily twice the amount of 99 6nz 550s then what cat built now, even though a lot of them were 2000+ 475s…
