Was wondering if anyone has bought one of these and are they worth it? I think it cost 800 to buy and 600 a year. I guess you can hook it to your phone and it will tell you things wrong with your truck,

That just screams scam to me. I’m just trying to think of how that could possibly tell you anything the diagnostics on your engine couldn’t. Don’t think they have anything on the chassis wired up for telemetry yet, and I wouldn’t think it could access any information from the engine you couldn’t bring up with flash-codes or on the TV screen they build in the dash of new ones. I’m not that familiar with the new trucks though.

This says it will be able to let you force a regin, or clear a fault code, or take your truck out of derate, and change your speed and I’m not sure what else. I guess it comparison to the software of Cummins and so on and so forth. Was just wondering.

I have the "diagnostic" model and it has worked perfectly for me. Clear codes, run a forced regen, and basically keep me in control of the emissions system. Not sure it can set parameters of the ecu such as vehicle speed but I have not needed that level of control. Mainly have it to prevent a tow if something goes wrong while on the road. I have it set up for a single vehicle, Paccar MX13 in a Peterbilt 579, so I don't have to subscribe to annual updates for newer engines. So far I have been very pleased. Met their guys at the MATS truck show and they really wanted me to know if I had any issues to call them. I feel pretty good going down the road with an emissions engine and the OTR Diagnostic in the truck.

I have the tool without the subscription. It's good for any truck that's out of warranty where you might expect emissions problems to start showing up. You can typically clear the derates by either plugging in, or else forcing a regen. The subscription has more detailed information than the dash, like EGR valve position, or aftertreatment exhaust temperatures, but I would probably rather get the OEM software and a laptop if I was paying for a subscription. I'd rather have access to all of the dealer functions, not just the aftertreatment portion of it. It's nice that it can work with a smartphone, though. These guys are not scammers, their products do actually work.

If you go for the subscription, it really does help to have a basic understanding of the aftertreatment system, though. What good is knowing any of the data it can provide, if you don't understand what to do with it? If the system says your NOx is too high, you'll need to start using the data to figure out which component is not working correctly to reduce it.

I have one works as advertised 2 things it does not due is it won't clear the code for a bad def level sensor so you can get another 4 hours before derate and will not clear the grease interval code on an Eton automated transmission.
