Hillbilly BBQ, hole in the wall family owned walk up joint on side of road as you go over skinny second bridge across Mississippi fork in KY. Not a common route most drivers know. Best BBQ.

Best food on the road was in Van Horn, TX across Hwy 90 from the Pilot. :D

But in all seriousness, Iguana Joe's in Baytown, TX (I-20 exit 798, just a short walk up 146 from the truck stop) serves good Mexican food.

Rancher's Cafe in Deming, NM (I-10 exit 82B) served me a good steak a few years ago when I rolled through there.

Had some pretty decent BBQ in Houston at a little place on the corner of McCarty and Wallisville Rd., not too far down from the Love's.

And some of the very best food I've ever eaten in my life was at a little country cooking restaurant in Prothro Junction, AR kinda near the Petro in North Little Rock. On the outside it looked like an old house instead of a restaurant.

I used to run past there a couple times a week, but almost always at night. I'd get a Baconator from the Wendy's in the Pilot before heading off in the darkness overnight on US90, heading to Laredo and points beyond. Last stop for anything until morning (the Stripes in Sanderson was closed by the time I would get there) aside from maybe stopping to wizz at the Stripes in Marfa, and you definitely didn't want to eat any of the gut bombs in the warmers called "Laredo Taco Company."

    Nardelli's Grinder Shoppe – Restaurant

A short walk down from the Pilot and Secondi Bros truck stops at exit 40 on I-95 Connecticut. I have been wanting to go here forever and finally had the chance today. Lots of grinders, and authentic Italians behind the counter to make them. Plus a display case of extra food besides the sandwiches. It was delicious.

Moving Forward and Brettj3876 Thank this.
