Never trust the dash gauge.
Go to a shop and have them put a test gauge on it before you do anything else. Then compare the test gauge reading to Volvo's specs.
Lots of folks have pissed away thousands of dollars on bearing rolls, oil pumps etc when it was just a failing pressure sensor.Longhaullover and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
Im not sure where ur pressurr sensor on a d13 is located but i just changed mine on my isx because my gauge was going bonkers. Normal is about38 psi. Well it would shoot up to 100 then down to 60 then down to 0. Then flucuate between 30 and 40 constantly... Opened the hood and checked the sensor and there was oil dripping off it ,meaning it was bad. 90 dollars. Changed it out. No more problems.

The engine always ran at 30-35 psi at idle.always above 30psi.
Noticed a difference yesterday.
Also i noticed when i put on engine brake psi would go down.
And right back up when disengage .thx -
hows your oil level? If it stays constant, I would change out the sensor because most likely it will be at fault providing false readings.
not an expensive thing ans super easy to change. even if you take it to a mechanic that will cost you more than this. so try this out and see if it fixes it
