A non-trucking friend messaged me the other day and asked when are you (us truckers) going to just say no to the fuel prices and just stop moving freight in protest. As in you (us truckers) have the power to shut the country down and make them lower fuel cost. (Do we have that power if we were organized and agreed to shut down? In my opinion yes… is it ever going to happen… helllll naw)

My answer to him was that everyone has a different number as to what is and isn’t profitable. You just can’t continue if it is not profitable. His response led me to believe it is up to us to wrangle this in and help the country as a whole by shutting down. Lolol So my response to him was when he was going to stop driving to work in protest and also stop doing paint and body work on cars since the supplies needed to do that job had also gone up and cost him more to do his job. After going back and forth he still could not see what I was getting at. Many want us to shut down to curb fuel cost but want to keep working their daily jobs and making money for themselves I’m still laughing a bit about it. I mean I look at available freight. I know what it cost me per mile to deliver the freight and I decide if it is profitable or not. He would not agree to restore a 65 mustang if it cost him money to do it and he would agree to restore said mustang if it was going to pay what his time and effort were worth the payment. Same shat different job.

People always want someone else to sacrifice for them, so they can continue to live their live uninterrupted.

Not too long ago, some members here were craving for higher fuel prices, saying that it is better for their income. Well, is it still? If so, why would they protest?

We are making pretty good money right now. Fuel surcharge running between .35% and .40% of the contract rates for our customers. Then combine that with the nastc fuel discounts. We need more trucks struggling to meet demand out of midwest. Definitely won't be shutting our company down in protest. We have had these customers before the 2008 collapse. Not going to leave them high and dry.

The shutdown is not going to be effective unless everyone participates.
