I go over 1500 and never have to call for that. Normally the calls are for rolling stops and following too close. The calls are nothing. They tell you what they saw in the nicest way you will ever here it and then tell you to have a nice day. I promise that's it. I wouldn't say they overly micromanage you. They do track your performance in ways that other companies probably won't but it's not like they call you in the office to regularly discuss it with you. It's all posted on a board that you can see and compare it with other drivers. Do you job here and it's not something you have to worry about. All and all, if you want a 50 hour week and no more, OD is a great company to p&d for. But a way better company to linehaul for.

 

It all depends on what terminal you are hired. There is a lot of soft glove micro stuff like mentioned above and forms of "discipline" that go into a drawer never to be seen again. But get busy and forget to put a lock on your trailer and safety sees it....write up. 3 write ups in a year and you're gone. Roll a curb = accident/write up as if you rear ended a bus load of nuns. We had a guy hauling doubles hit black ice one night. Rolled his rear trailer...no injuries. Fired. Another backed into a BBQ grill that was being thrown away. Customer said no worries we were trashing that old POS anyway. Owner decided he might get a new grill if he called and showed the video of the incident. Driver fired due to non reported accident. If you go to ODFL be prepared for the safety Gestapo. Great place to work otherwise. Pay is great. Benefits are great.

I always think that if someone asks that question, trucking is probably not a good career choice for them to begin with.
I'm as pro 420 at it gets. My significant other has used marijuana for years as pain relief and I'm so grateful it's available for her.
That said, last I smoked was back in 1981. It has been simply the jobs I've had incured a risk for using anything of that nature, so I've refrained from such behavior. I do look forward to the day such restrictions no longer exist for me and I can, once again, get high and listen to jazz. It's the best. But, until such time I responsibly refrain and cringe at the thought of a driver using such substances. This is simply not a career for such things. And, if you have to ask the question....

Well, asking questions around here can lead to unintended consequences. Had my share of comments to questions asked that I felt were kinda sideways in relation to the question. My opinion is simply anyone who partakes in 420 or other similar activities has no business as a driver. Many share this opinion, so if you ask such a question that illudes to such activity, you'll get an answer similar to mine. If not from me, someone else will. Many, if not most professional drivers on here, share that opinion and there's a darn good reason for having it!

I understand you’re entitled to your opinion.

Your opinion however is antiquated. Alcohol,Tobacco, and Obesity are common with Truck drivers and far more dangerous for your health than reefer will ever be.

I believe many truckers want 1930s style marijuana enforcement as a means of self preservation, they feel the more drivers pulled off the road means more job security for themselves.

The most dangerous part of reefer is getting caught. Responsible adult use has been proven to be a success in the legal states like here in Colorado.

Many predicted legal reefer would be a disaster. It has instead been a success. A success most states are following.
