What the HELL are you guys talking about? LOL. All I wanted to know was why my splitter is doing the opposite of what it's supposed to be doing! Thanks for the knowledge though. You guys amaze me with all you know. Thanks for making me feel stupid!

Considered yourself lucky. Knowledge is expensive, most of the time.

Try throwing the splitter at a higher RPM (1-200-ish) into 13th position than you would for the other gears/splitter in the high-range. I did all of my 13-speed on I-84, I-15, I-90 so the climbs and descents were always the main factor on selecting a gear.

Well, I just scored a steady run from Vegas to Seattle, so I reckon you would be the man to talk to. So what you are saying is, when I'm in 8th (12th), put the splitter into the overdrive position when I get to 1200 rpm?

Yes, I think that's right. I don't recall my exact RPM shift point into top gear, splitter up at the moment. But wait until you reach a higher RPM before throwing the splitter to up. Also, don't feel you have to always get into top gear and overdrive (splitter up). Depending on headwinds, weight, steepness of the road there were many times I would drive and not shift into 8th Overdrive.

I recall many times I'd reach the max speed I wanted 75mph, and still not have moved the splitter up, due to hills or weight. In my last truck 8th overdrive didn't accelerate or pull a hill as well as 8th direct/lo. I used 8th overdrive/hi as a way to drop the RPMs for fuel economy.

Yes that's what I want to use it for, to drop rpm and save fuel. I rarely do 70 mph. I was just confused as to why the rpm were going higher when I switched to 8th OD. They should have dropped.

The RPMs definitely should drop, not rise. No question about that.
