    Mass Shootings by Country 2022

"the U.S. experienced 133 shootings during that period, while the next-highest total was Germany with six."

Germany has 83 million people, the US 330 million people.

So .4 compared to to .07, on a per capita basis.

So, what have we accomplished here? Nothing. Clearly, we're all frustrated. No, I don't have a lot of facts, they bum me out. After doing minimal research, when I came across the leading cause of death for children in 2020, WAS SHOOTING DEATHS, I stopped researching.
Some great points, like guns have been around forever, and shootings today can only be blamed on the internet. It, the computer, is the "devil", if I was a religious person, I mean, what else could it be? It alone has changed our attitudes towards one another, just like George Orwell predicted in the movie "1984", and that was written in the late 40's about social media, and that was just TV, the harbinger of the computer. We don't think on a bigger human scale anymore, we don't have to,,our computers are allegedly bliss, me, me, me, and for a society, it's the kiss of death.
I'm telling you, before the internet, things were just a lot better, and I realize the irony of ripping on the computer while typing on one, so don't point that out. Sorry, as a 67 year old, I can easily draw a conclusion and the real frustration on my, and folks like me, part, is our conventional wisdom doesn't apply, and we don't have the clout to make a difference. Guns are the last resort to a problem, usually when all else apparently fails, and it's clear, with all the shootings, all else IS failing. I won't be around to see the end result of all this, and you know what? I'm not sure I want to see it. I say, a revolt of BIBLICAL proportions is brewing, and it's not going to be pretty.

That may have been the purpose of the 2nd amendment in 1776. That surely ain't the purpose now. People are completely different now. There ain't gonna be any of this "taking back our country." The United States government has become too big, too powerful, and too protected. Shooting a government official on principle won't do anything but get you federal charges in this day and age.

Guns used to be a last resort to solve issues. Now it's become an equalizer for a lot of people. Got your ### whooped in a fight? No problem. The loser of that fight wants some "get back." Let him go get that firearm. Now someone must die because of that person's inability to take an L in life.

I would only warn here that correlation is not the same as causation vis-a-vis the internet/computer and shootings

At the end of the day nothing is accomplished because everyone is too invested in their own opinions from the people on capitol hill down to everyone here. It requires good dispassionate study, but those people dont seem to exist.

Also i must disagree, at 67, you ARE the demographic in the drivers seat for the past 30 years, and the track record is unimpressive

Incorrect. As Ukraine has shown Russia. An armed populace can defend against a military machine. The 2nd amendment is as valid today as it was then.

That's a whole different ball game. Thats a whole war going versus another country. I'm talking domestically. Citizens here aren't going to fire shots at their own government officials without paying a price.

And that meant "in good working order", not "oppressed by rules".

Government here aren't going to fire shots at their own citizens without paying a price.

Just looking at the military alone, there's more ex-military than currently serving military. You think anything changes when you get discharged? The military isn't going to be rolling tanks into your house, or targeting people with drones. And it's going to be a lot harder for them to win when 99% of them defect because they aren't turning their guns on American Citizens.

And I blame that on the Gen X's that became parents in the 90's and their #### participation trophies

You better say that again. Participation trophies drive me up a wall. Then kids grow up and have no idea how to handle adversity and become better.
