I love how they write about bad fossil fuels, and make picture in 4 series scania (like 20 years old).

medioker, Cat sdp, 98989 and 2 others Thank this.

One of the reasons they are doing the smoke and mirror thing is that there are several pretty significant battery advances in the pipe line. Ford and BMW are getting their first pilot production solid state battery cells from a JV battery developer in the next few months. Battery technology has so much money thrown at it right now, it's hard to keep up with where the next improvement will come from.

Xpeng in China demonstrated their new solid state battery technology last year (XPeng Announces 480 kW Chargers And 800V SiC EV Platform) which showed a 10 to 80% charge in 12 minutes (800V, 480KW) for a car.

At that point, everything we have built so far is instantly obsolete for the next generation EV (if for no other reason there's no utility that'll let you plug directly into the net and turn 480 KW on and off capriciously; it'll have to go through a Megapack type battery configuration to modulate the draw).

Electricity will win the moment battery energy density and charge rate come close to halving that of the current lithium. Fuel cost and engine simplicity are that much better it'll be as quick as the conversion can be made.

Completely agree with that as well. Once the charge times drop and range increases it'll be hard to beat. Provided the grid can handle the extra draw of course.

Hearded today from a official source that Daf is now selling hazmat trucks without mirrors.
Is MB also now doing it or not approved yet?

This one is touring the USA now.
It has the Westport system, Diesel/Hydrogen through same injector.

Photo was made in The Netherlands, first time filling with hydrogen.
This was still at 350 bar (5000 psi), Later we fills were at 10k PSI in, 12700 PSI for leak testing.

Trailer has concrete blocks in it. Total weight of the trailer about 29 tons.
Truck drives same as diesel truck. Driver does not feel a difference.

Truck was at ACT in LA in May, in Sacramento 2 days ago.
It is trailered from one place to the next, because of paperwork issues. And lack of hydrogen filling stations.

2nd truck is in our workshop (in The Netherlands) being converted from LNG to H2 at this moment.

I think diesel will always be the best option for trucks.

The issue with batteries is who wants an obsolete one on the way to the final product…?

    Not I .
