You’re the same understanding kinda guy. We put a set of nozzles in my C. Driver caught the noises on cold starts or when he had it pressured up and got off the fuel. Stuck them in and he left, calls me and says it’s gone nuts. Same length of smoke on the shifts but coal black and it runs better. I thought I got a set of bad pencils. Called them for a chat, they haven’t sold me any pencils in 4yrs? Mechanic found them in the shop and put them in. I figured it out. Was a set of 4W7017’s that were honed 20% for my V8 that never made it into the engine. They were still out there on top of the rod oven. I guess it woke that C right the #### up, and it was savage to begin with. I can’t wait for it to get back and take it for a rip.

Thank goodness for leveled headed women. The only reason I am not back out on the big road is cause of my wife. She has put up with too much of my stupid stuff and I don’t care to lose her. It is a struggle to not listen to the siren song call from the road. Cattle bawlin and night time cow haulin, ain’t nothin more satisfying.

My dad ran dozers, draglines, and dump trucks. I learned to drive in an old Chevy dump truck with bad brakes. Dad told us we could drive around the field and use the scrub oak patches to stop us just as long as we shoved in the clutch and slowed the truck down. He advised us that hitting a real tree would result in meeting a real belt. I never got the belt.

I sure do wish I still had those old Mack’s and the Autocar he had.

Mine had a 72 C60 with a 427 gasser, 5 speed and a 2 speed rear. Air brake truck, low miles sat in a fire station volunteer fires station at that its whole life. He meticulously takes that crap off and puts a dump set up on it with a set of attached log bunks. My older brother let it get out from under him on a hill we call OMG. Over by Oil Trough. The ol farmer that found him come to get us he told pop now the boy is ok but he is shook up and we can’t get him to get out. Turns out he got it wound tight enough it lost the drive live, the shifter disappeared from the floor cause some how the drive line (assuming here) removed the trans or most of it and the brake cans. He rode it out backwards from some point and ended up cross ways of the lost end bridge. So we go up there both hands is a fixed to the steering wheel. Bob says idk what happened and I don’t wanna talk about it, and I ain’t gettin out either till you promise not to kill me. Not funny at the time but now yes it is. There was a tear over that that never did heal.......and ima say that’s what made him a crane operator lmfao
