Me and my wife have been wanting to move out of Texas for a few years and go somewhere that’s not as hot,has four seasons, and good schools for my kids.I’m wanting to only run regional or local only and it really doesn’t matter what type of trailer I pull.We really like the northeast and the PNW and wondering out of those two areas which is more likely to have what we’re looking for ?
Before somebody mentions the snow lol we have lived in North Dakota and Colorado.
Edit:Forgot to mention that I’m an owner operator and currently have a step deck but can change the trailer if need be.
Northeast or the PNW?

Cheaper living in NW, but crap winter weather. No way i'd want to deal with the traffic of the NE daily.

Plenty of regional and local companies in Washington, Oregon, and California with regional runs and runs up and down I-5.
Downside to the PNW is the rainy season lasting from October until June.
Plenty of flatbed, curtain van, tanks (food grade and fuel/chemical), reefer, and dry van companies to choose from.

The northwest is incredibly expensive. Although a beautiful place to live. With a step deck u will have some troubles. I run a flatbed out there for a couple years but it was all direct freight... Running off loadboards is quite difficult to do out there with open deck until u build some connections..... If u are thinking western montana , expect to pay no less than 500k for a decent house... Same out anywhere in washington and idaho

The Bay area California is where it's incredibly expensive. $280,000 will buy you a two or three bedroom 1700 square foot house where I live.
Cheapest gas in town is about $5.13.
$2 to $3 for a loaf of bread. $2 to $4 milk gallons. Potato chips have gone up considerably, though.
The World According to Briggs is a YouTube channel I watch on occasion and he offers information on towns in Oregon and elsewhere in these here United States. Nick Johnson is his counterpart.Another Canadian driver, ProfessionalNoticer, D.Tibbitt and 2 others Thank this. -
