Alright good to know. Sounds like it will be rough but I can do a week for the training. I am finding it really tough to pack as I keep packing too much. I am trying to make it so that I bring one large duffle bag/luggage thing, one laptop bag and one rolled up sleeping bag.
Orientation in the morning.

I still have not been contacted by a driver trainer. I am getting a bit worried. The recruiter said she has some emails out, it will happen. She said the company will start paying me now. I have these thoughts of they are giving priority to younger drivers, I don't know. I am doing what I can, sleeping, watching backing videos, hiking (lost 23 lbs in about 3 months). My medical showed an A1C of 10.6, but 2 weeks ago it was 8 and my doctor assures me it is mostly likely below 7 at this point if I stay on track (6'3" started at 247 now at 224, goal 195 lbs). To complicate things slightly, I have 2 foster dogs with my wife. One of the foster dogs has lymphoma and I have been taking him to chemo since Nov 2021 either weekly or biweekly. He is approaching the end, still has quality of life, but is prob within a few weeks maybe less of life left (he is only 5 years old). I won't likely be there for him when he passes but that is the nature of trucking I guess.
I really need to get on the road training, I hope this recruiter is not jerking me around.Siinman, ZhenyaP1991, austinmike and 1 other person Thank this. -

He means nobody would recommend W.E. for anything other than those with questionable legal problems. They're known colloquially as Felon Express.

ON the other hand, there is at least one guy on here, that started at western express and is now doing very well. It can be done. First gig is usually a rough ride but stick it out.
CastleNut, Trucker61016, Labrador and 4 others Thank this. -
I started at Schneider, and would imagine I'd be considered a great graduate if they admitted their place as a stepping stone in the industry. Loltscottme, Labrador, SoulScream84 and 2 others Thank this. -
It's all good. Anyone that applies themselves and does a good job, delivering on time, not hitting stuff, will stand out. I imagine a good driver would be appreciated and given good loads at WE just as any other company.
All the best WE driver, just do your job the best you can and get'er done. The path is not as important as the way one walks it.kemosabi49, spindrift, austinmike and 4 others Thank this. -
I'm not saying they can't be a good start, I was just answering what the previous comment had meant. We all know we wouldn't recommend CR ENGLAND, SWIFT, OR PRIME to an experienced driver, and yet each of them has drivers that have more than a million dafe miles. WE fills a role in the trucking world, you just won't typically see people refer anyone to them unless they need a 2nd chance carrier.
austinmike and Labrador Thank this.
