After morning y’all, so my bxs 05 379 had begun a pretty decent knock when applying the lightest amount of throttle pedal and well continues until I come off, no excessive smoke, all normal . If I rev up motor there’s no knock which brings me to weak injector. I have IVA delete with 550 1850 tune. I also had a bout of confusion when I was due to get an injector that I replaced programmed with trim file, my injectors that are in the motor are not what is programmed in my ecm. The guy I had looking at it stated he’s never heard of and count find numbers on his computer. (A550589758C7) 10R1273. But back to it, where do y’all purchase injectors? I can’t afford CAT OEM them high as ####, but looking to put 58’s in. Curious if I need to retune after or if there will be any real difference over stock.

I’ve never had any luck with reman injectors for the E’s or BXS. Even Cat remans. The BXS has a modified 550 Brakesaver file in it and the VVA’s still active. It runs great with 58’s in it.

Pretty sure the 57's and 58's are on backorder.

Had trouble finding both those injectors for a few years now. The last set I had to put together at the last minute came from 3 different suppliers in 2 provinces. If somebody didn’t have it on a shelf already you weren’t getting it. Even then, and that was just before Covid.

I was pondering on actually reinstating the VVAs I’d replace them all regardless of good nor bad and have it tuned. But go figure everyone I run in to that state they have a great tunes turns out money well burned. Should just chunk it out the window. Truck always runs worse. I kind of figured go with new but maaan the price.

There’s a few places in Louisiana that state they actually have set of injectors, 58’s to be exact.

So tonite waiting at well to unload, I tinkered on the truck. Tire fuel lines off head and flipped them, as well as return hose from secondary to splitter. Blew them out and tied them to filter housing plugged ends and pressure tested individually. Also removed and flipped suction side, pressure tested and reinstalled with same results. This thing lopes but after blowing return line sucker runs pretty good until I pull hill or come to stop. I’m due to replace these 6 month old fuel lines on Wednesday. Installing stratoflex line with 45 ends. It’s a darn fuel knock due to suction line blowing and she runs good than fair than come on let’s get to 65.

I was speaking of actual Cat remans, which can be hit and miss. 211-3024 is part number for new and I have been waiting on availability through Cat for at least two months. Spoke with some rebuilders and they say just a struggle to get parts to rebuild them. Genuine Delphi remanufactured are on back order also. One rebuilder could build a set of six flow matched, but owner of truck has just over 600,000 on a brand new set of 211-3023 and would rather put in one new or six new 211-3024's.

You need to verify your file. If it got infected with a lo-nox upgrade, you’re doomed. You can’t over-write or replace that file with an earlier one. I don’t know how an ECM that had that file in it would react to being tuned. I just know if you’re working with Cat stuff and your ECM had that upgrade it will be a sorry excuse for a Cat no matter what you do with it. The clean Brakesaver file, fuel resister and 58 recipe work.
