On SB I-65 there's a camera that is a weigh-in-motion scale or something. Can it give overweight tickets? This week is the first time I've seen it(no I don't get to Alabama very often).

From my research, the camera reads and records plate, if you are Overweight it will send a signal to the scale house and an officer can pursue the vehicle or they will just send the ticket directly to the company

Ive gone numerous times over that scale overweight and never touched. I believe it sends a signal to those guys that sit a few miles ahead in the DOT pullout and they may pull you over as there is on scale there.

I think any lawyer would be able to have a weight ticket dismissed if it was issued while the truck was crossing the scale at 70 mph
I’m pretty sure the weigh in motion ones in the interstate travel lane just signal the scale house , or perhaps signal the camera that reads your DOT number to flash up the “truck must enter “ sign .gentleroger, MOBee, Another Canadian driver and 2 others Thank this. -
