I like the idea also but....

    2-3 batteries required for a 10hr break
(3-6 hr per battery depending on temp)
    Around $1,500-$2000 total cost.

Still requires venting thru a window

Can only cool just the lower bunk...(must hang a sheet from the upper bunk so the cold air is trapped in the lower bunk)

I have a 36" flat top. My 6k window unit even keeps this thing ice cold.

I dont have a place to put a generator, the small honda/predator I could hide under my headache rack and put it at the back of the trailer every night. A bit of a pita, but I need to do something for the summer, I'm dying out here, I'm getting too old and cranky to sweat, and HATE idling. Hoping a 5k window will do it. I already have that.

Do you have room on your frame rail?

I have a 5k window unit by Toshiba, cheapest one they sell at Home Depot.

Best trick I learned was diverting the air back to sleeper. I was in Arizona, parked in daytime pointed into the sun.

I use the shiny window shades and I built a cardboard duct diverting air from cab to sleeper to test it and taped it to the AC.

I leave the truck idle for 30 minutes or so after I park and setup and the thing #### near freezes you out of sleeper.

I have a Honda Gen also. Runs two full 10 hour breaks + on 1 tank of fuel.

I used to run a fan in cab to blow air into sleeper but my little temp duct setup works much better.

I am building a nicer duct setup out of a spare standup AC hose.

Have used this is 100+ degree days and it works great.

I’m sure all the dudes running around in someone else’s truck laugh a bit but I save a lot not idling right now.

    63” stand up Pete sleeper
