Just bought a 7800 lb CAT track loader, hauling on 14 k trailer. 20 ft G70 5/16 chain and 3/8 to 1/2 inch binder, are the binders the right size? Had hotshot haulers tell me 5/16 chain, 3/8 binders, still doesnt sound right to me.

Not, they are not. You need 5/16 - 3/8 binders. 3/8 - 1/2 are too big. Keep it safe or you'll regret it later.

Your choice of buying new chain or new binders.
I would suggest buying 4 8 foot long 3/8 g70 and putting a grab hook on one end and a slip hook on the other. You can keep your 5/16 chains for lifting empty tanks and other things into holes.
