Right there with you on the snow and ice pack, I don't even try to drive a car in that mess! If you're a scaredy cat, I'm one too, it's paint side up for me thanks. If I had snow tires, it would be a different story, but not worth it for a few random snow drifts we get down here.
I was chatting with a friend yesterday and he confirmed what I'd thought a few weeks ago - Georgia and North Carolina are running low on road maintenance funds (probably alot of other states, too). That'll put a serious limit on the sand and salt out there to help us along. After we got a slight (2 or 3 inch) snowpack for about a week - there were no plows out moving it - and the news was going crazy about people sliding off the roads. IMO the price of fuel is still limiting our states budgets, and something needs to change!

The city I live in gave the city manager a raise the other day for doing a outstanding job and saving them money. When all the snow hit they didn't get out and clean the city streets, so I guess he was doing them a good job.
