Right there with you on the snow and ice pack, I don't even try to drive a car in that mess! If you're a scaredy cat, I'm one too, it's paint side up for me thanks. If I had snow tires, it would be a different story, but not worth it for a few random snow drifts we get down here.

I was chatting with a friend yesterday and he confirmed what I'd thought a few weeks ago - Georgia and North Carolina are running low on road maintenance funds (probably alot of other states, too). That'll put a serious limit on the sand and salt out there to help us along. After we got a slight (2 or 3 inch) snowpack for about a week - there were no plows out moving it - and the news was going crazy about people sliding off the roads. IMO the price of fuel is still limiting our states budgets, and something needs to change!

Welcome to the hopper thread wishful thinking. Do you have much wheat in your area?

I don't think there's any shame in staying parked when its really bad. The #1 goal every day has to be to bring the truck and yourself home with no problems and some days the odds against that are just too great. Hate to hear some states don't have the funds to cope with the snow and ice, maybe with all this "global warming" the southern states are going to have to start planning for more severe winter weather.

The city I live in gave the city manager a raise the other day for doing a outstanding job and saving them money. When all the snow hit they didn't get out and clean the city streets, so I guess he was doing them a good job.

Supposed to be a balmy 10 tonight. In a freezing fog advisory tonight and until noon tomorrow. Chance of light freezing rain Sunday night and Monday. Fog is bad enough but freezing fog justs adds layers of ice to vehicle when driving.

Does bullhaulerswife's husband pull a black hopper w/ super singles? And drive a FLD with a drop visor with lights, big chrome bumper and blue lettering?

I think they have a black FLD with a black hopper. Go to a BHW post click on name and it will have thread that says photo, there is a picture of the rig there.

Is there much hopper bottom work around Central Texas? I'm southwest of you, near Dripping Springs outside of Austin. Seems like rock work is all that's available around here.

Here's what freezing fog and light sleet did to my truck last October in MO. The ice was getting so thick on the windshield the wipers were hopeless even with the defroster on full blast. It had to have been overweight at that point....
