I agree, it's better off do do what the employer says, even if it's illegal. You could lose your job, and you may never be able to get a job for another trucking company as long as you live...

I didn't say he would never get another job
In fact I said he should probably mention that he called the DOT on his former employer .....and that would probably get him bonus points at the interview ... didn't I. ???

I thought your response was dripping with sarcasm. I replied with the same in turn. Guess I read it wrong...

This is a tanker operation. For some of you saying just do your own pretrip, of course I do. But to give in an example if there was a valve on the tank that was intermittently problematic and I don’t know about it then it’s a problem. Or an intermittent air leak or whatever. Don’t need any surprises like that in the middle of the shift. We had a driver get stuck on the freeway because his transmission kept slipping, the previous driver didn’t tell him that it had been intermittently having the same type of problems in the previous shift, some drivers are self centered and lack virtue, and don’t wanna look out for their fellow drivers. I call those types of drivers vermin.

In my previous employment we had to write down any problems we had in the DVIR book pre or post trip. Was thinking that’s the law.

I slip seat every day with my job. We used to run a paper DVIR book in the truck, now we are electronic. Nonetheless, we are still required by law to be able show a DVIR record for the past 30 days for the equipment.

The only thing electronic is on the e log it just gives an option to show you did a pre trip, there’s no way to write anything up.

Unfortunately the boss has no CDL, no tanker experience, and he just started the job, doesn’t know Jack Schiff, and won’t listen to the drivers.

I look at this two ways
1- you called them out and any new company might not like that but two, any reputable company might see it as a plus. That you actually care

Coffey and Last Call Thank this.

The former seems more likely than the later, with "reputable" being the operative term in that statement...

    Coffey Thanks this.
