Let's use insurance for gravity. Are any of you O/O's paying -
Equipment and maintenance that is FIVE times the cost of your insurance?
Wages that are TEN TIMES the cost of your insurance? (This one is actually a little more believable, but if they were shelling out $1.16, then there wouldn't be a "driver shortage")
Benefits that are TWICE as much as your insurance.
Administration costs that are THREE F'n times as much as your insurance? Are you F'n kidding me?
Even if you're self insured, the numbers are out of whack.
The graphic by itself is bull ####. There's no context on miles ran, which you need in order to break out fixed cost per mile. Take being self insured into consideration, which applies to none of us here, and use another number as the base, and still the graphic is bull ####.
If I'm the dummy, then someone feel free to show me a real world trucking example of where this piece of propaganda fits. And if there is one, take a look around and let me know if that applies to any of us. -

I still stand by the biggest single elephant in the room no one ever discusses when arguing about rates, the cost of living.
We are from all over the country and the cost of living is different everywhere, sometimes vastly different, as well as insurance prices being vastly different on the same exact equipment depending on where you live. But we all run different places for the same rates generally.
If you live on the West coast or NE a grand a day gross might not feed the family. If you live in the sticks in the South a grand a day might be a dream.larry2903, RefMata, Midwest Trucker and 5 others Thank this. -

I didn’t study the ITS example. Stay tuned for my expert analysis. Lol.

That was easy. ITS was started by a young man with money borrowed from his mom, while living in her basement. They’ve gone from humble beginnings to arrogant bean counters. They’re original bread and butter, the Independant O/O, is now an after thought. Someone who needs their guidance and education on how to be profitable. Meanwhile the so called improvements to their load board, are making it more difficult to navigate. Too many irons in the fire. I don’t need any of their extras, like estimated fuel cost per load. Really? I think they need to stick with what they know best. Already enough Leaches trying to clamp onto the independant with BS services.

Go local. That's where the real money is.
Trust me.
And, as an aside, why do all of these conversations always devolve into some kind of weird dick fight about who makes what?
Look man, here's the deal, and this is the last time I'm gonna tell you:
"If you're warm, safe, and happy in a pile of poop, keep your mouth shut."
Everybody has their own thing; and your thing might not be my thing, but it don't make your thing wrong.
@Dave_in_AZ is killing it. But it ain't my thing.
So, I guess that makes us both right. -
lynchy, gentleroger and Rideandrepair Thank this.
