New to the Forum,
Just got my permit and I'm looking for a company that has high morale amongst drivers, and good pay when you start as a rookie. I live in El Paso, TX and it seems that all the "good" starting companies don't recruit this far west. I want to go to company with a paid CDL program, and a spot for me when I finish. I'm still young, so I would be grinding the first couple years anyways.
Probably been asked a million times

The better the match between what your first company provides and what you need as an employee will go a long way deciding if you stay in the industry.80-90% of new drivers leave the industry before they complete 1 year of driving. A lot of that quitting is because MOST newbies think all trucking companies are alike and they rush into working based on who will give them "free" CDL school.
You need to make decisions about how often you need to get home. How long you need to stay home when you are not working, pay and benefits, type of trucking (dry van, reefer, flatbed, tanker), where you want to drive or where you want to avoid driving, if you can bring a pet or passenger, and many other things. In my mind it's more important you pick a company that mates you than whether you take out a loan for CDL school, if the state pays for your CDL school thru WOIA, or about half of the companies offer Tuition Reimbursement to pay for CDL school. After you get some recommendations for companies make sure you talk to current working drivers at the company to find out the real story abut pay, routes, equipment, dispatchers, etc. The company recruiter will tell you ANYTHING they think will make you want to work for them. Most get paid when you join or stay a few weeks, they don't care if you will be happy there or not.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
Better yet, run away and don't get sucked into the black hole, aka trucking.....

kllm/ffe? Have a Texas school in Lancaster. We go through there all time; I’m not sure about pickups or deliveries in that area, but we will do pretty long deadheads (500mi) to cargills.
