Stop calling it a license. It confuses the conversation.
It’s a Broker authority or Carrier authority. Start with that.

Ok now.
If you are only going to be helping your friend, then you don’t need a brokers authority. You just need to find shippers willing to guarantee so many loads a week for him.
you need to move the company to another state. Some place that has a lot of outbound freight for your trucks.
you also need to find drivers because not all your drivers will move. Because if your trucks can’t operate in California now, they won’t be able to even if company is outside of California. CARB rules still applies.
Figure that out before you start spending money.Rideandrepair and gentleroger Thank this. -
I just spent 35 minutes reading every page of this jaw dropping thread.
It’s like a bad car wreck or the kid who wasn’t all there in school. You know you shouldn’t stare but for the love of God you just can’t help yourself.
I am rolling back over and going to bed now, slightly dumber…but we’ll worth it.Siinman and gentleroger Thank this. -
I didn’t read all the replies because it was making my head hurt. There are two possible reasons why he’s so bent on getting broker authority to load his friend’s trucks, a company that he says he will be investing in. One is that there is a total lack of knowledge about what goes on and how it all works. Or two, his friend has trucks and wants more trucks, but doesn’t want to hire legit w2 employees because he’s cheap. So the author of the original post gets his broker authority and double brokers loads to his friends company so they can skim money off the top when they give the loads to the 1099 drivers they’re paying on percentage.

Plus he says his friend is an owner operator, so AB5 doesn’t affect him. But it does affect him if he’s illegally paying people on 1099. So instead of paying employees on W2 like they should they will spend a bunch of money to move the company out of state instead of doing things how they should.

If your friend is willing to let you double broker every load to line your pocket and pay for the trucks please PM me his number. I have some great opportunities for him.
