One thing I never knew about trucking community was their claim of being trucker to be independent and not to deal with BS, while downgrading their standards to be treated unfair and still they settle for it.
Here is my experience with Schneider as a zero experience driver

You know neither, but you're young and that's understandable.Another Canadian driver, Suspect Zero and snowlauncher Thank this. -
They treated like they rescued us from homeless shelter. The more I am exchanging comments, I realize most of drivers seem ok with it. Maybe because of the background and lifestyle most of them had, I don't know and I don't care.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
Be sure to let us know when you find another job and how things work out for you.88 Alpha, Another Canadian driver and Opus Thank this. -
Look, here's the deal. Truckers mostly get treated like ####.
Imagine putting in a 14 hour day and getting paid for 6, that's our life.
What you experienced at Schneider is actually above average.
I won't comment on the trainer experience since I wasn't there, but I can tell you this much, "lane to lane" is pretty much the law everywhere.
Perhaps you should reconsider your career options.......and I'm not at all trying to be ugly here.......but if cold bagels and bad attitudes spin your world up, you're in the wrong business.
Good luck88 Alpha, Another Canadian driver, Suspect Zero and 1 other person Thank this. -
Very toxic community.
Of course cold bagle and coffee in styrofoam cup doesn't spin my world but it shows me that how my employer is normally treating its employees.Another Canadian driver and Opus Thank this. -
Many/most truckers are the most inconsiderate, rude, nasty, ill-mannered people I've ever met.
But the rest are pretty ok.
But once again, if coffee in a Styrofoam cup informs you about a company, an organization, or an industry, perhaps its time to step back and look at yourself. Again, not trying to be ugly or hateful, but seriously, man.Another Canadian driver and Suspect Zero Thank this. -
They don't need to be crystal clear and tell you in writing that "hey, be aware we totally don't give a ... about you, just in case!".
I don't think you would serve coffee in Styrofoam to your family, friend, employee or anyone stranger. If someone or a business thinks it is ok to do so, it is wise to think twice about them.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
good luckAnother Canadian driver and Suspect Zero Thank this. -
You are a guidance system for a big noisy machine. Nothing more. You go from point A to point B and back again. You're not a hero. You're not even quite human, according to most management. You're simply a means to an end and if they could replace you with a chimpanzee or a robot they'd do it in a heartbeat.
Most drivers, when you peel back a couple of layers of cynicism, will help you any way they can.
Are there companies that treat their drivers well? Of course there are. Are there trucking jobs where the driver's contribution is recognized and appreciated.? Definitely.
But those jobs are hard to find and they usually don't hire rookies. You'll need a couple of bad jobs before you truly appreciate a good one. Even with a good job and good people there will things you don't like.
Learn to deal with that.
Whining solves nothing and disagreeing with good advice is foolish. You need to think about that. Or not. Your choice entirely.
You've worked hard to get where you are now. Don't let unrealistic expectations ruin you.Longarm, Milr72, Another Canadian driver and 2 others Thank this.
