Rubber is actually better at taming vibration vs poly in my experiences. I am not a fan at all of poly in engine mounts, carrier bearings or about 50% of suspension components.

Sounds like they didn't do the overhead adjustment correctly.
I had a guy do a Cat motor for me once. He was a supposed Cat guru. He put the rocker shafts on upside down (discovered by the Peterbilt dealer in Tacoma) Although it did run, it idled rough and the jakes didn't work.sirrepairsalot, RubyEagle, Dave_in_AZ and 5 others Thank this. -
Its rough and loud cruising down the interstate.
They couldn’t keep it running when we first fired it. Was losing prime after rigging up air to help. First they thought pump was in backwards. A few days later determine it’s a bad pump out of the box.
I, not them, noticed a significant oil leak when it was running. It appeared to be coming from the front of the valve cover. We figured the gasket was messed up where we couldn’t see. Turns out it was an o-ring messed up during installation. Had to rip the front end off engine to replace. Its been one thing after another. I lost a lot of wages with this fiasco and still don’t have a good engine. -
They almost forgot a new dampner. I also caught that. Had they painted it before I got there I wouldn’t have known.
This whole thing just sickens me. -

Where’s the noise from? Exhaust? Sure the muffler is the same? Flow thru are louder. Any exhaust pipes hitting the frame or cab? Is the air filter in? Hopefully the cam timings not off a tooth. Maybe injector heights were set wrong? There’s a few different settings. I’d look for anything that was changed, or upgraded from original. Did they set the new injector codes Into the ecm? That supposedly only affects idle. Yet Detroit manual claims it can cause a lot more than idle problems. New motor mounts. Did they change the front motor mounts also? Any chance you forgot just how loud the engine actually is. Mines loud, compared to other engines. Mines still leaking at the front, hoping it’s just the valve cover. I’ve yet to do the first overhead. Hope it’s not a bad o ring, Lol. Did you check the y pipe, Things get disturbed during an overhaul. My check valve went bad, for instance. It was down 4 weeks. Still getting air bubbles in my tanks from return fuel. Occasionally it acts up and blows white smoke. It’s a separate problem, maybe caused from disturbed fuel lines, leaking shutoff valve, I have no idea. Even the best mechanics can make a mistake. I watched them put my valve cover on, yet it leaks. Not the first time. Another excellent mechanic once did my overhead and kinked the gasket. I had to re do it myself. It was nighttime and he was drunk, Lol. But things happen. Sorry to hear your having problems. Check for bubbles in fuel tanks, maybe it’s sucking air somewhere. The fuel pump guess work sounds suspicious. Maybe a fuel lines bad. They’re hard to prime, once it’s lost. Have to put air into tank, using a blow gun and a rag, to push fuel while cranking. I suggest changing oil, before 5k. Maybe 2 or 3k to get any metal shavings out. Might want to check fuel filters. May have some algae in the tanks from sitting.

I hate this for ya @JoeyJunk. Any check engine lights, smoke? Could the added noise and vibration be tge exhaust against the cab? Did they have the tranny out? Can you use a tire bar or something else and try to push the dampner toward the radiator to make sure the thrust washers are in place?

Tranny was out for new clutch. All fuel lines are new. Tanks were professionally cleaned as they were black (asphaltines). All nee motor mounts including front. When I said everything is new I was serious lol. All new ac system, the entire system. Every hose is new.
Only things that were reused was coolant pipes (cleaned inside and out and painted) and CAC pipes. New muffler. Part of flex was only 2 months old so reused that. I did the exhaust myself except were it connects to engine. I tried to do some stuff to save money and I didn’t trust the reetard they had putting stuff back on. He is a very dumb person. -
Possibly something with the flywheel. I would make d'amn sure that crank has no play too. I would have suspected timing, but they don't have much power usually if they're out, and you'd have black smoke

Why did ai pay in full? Potential parts shortages. Also thought it would give them incentive to get my engine done in a decent timeframe. Fast forward TWO months. I call and ask what’s going on. Of course they say they were just about ready to start my rebuild but didn’t have a rebuild kit and didn’t know when they were getting more.
Two issues with this. They had the kits when I paid them. So one of them was mine, right? Also, if you build over 200 Detroits a year and you don’t have a better relationship with them where they could at least give a timeframe, thats pizz poor business. I know what happened. They do A LOT of tour bus work. My single engine didn’t matter if a bus needed my paid for parts. Got my refund.
So here we are at this shop. Been around forever. Apparently that doesn’t mean a GD thing.
