Leasing from SFI JUL 22

    Insurance is definitely high. Mine was $300 a month based on $60k with Gallagher. I pay way less than that now.

    I could save quite a bit on plates carat in Oklahoma you only pay for the states you ran in the year before when you renew but you're still registered to run in so 48 and Canada. My tag was $1650 the first year and $1300 to renew cause I don't run all 48. Then I have to do my own IFTA which takes a whopping 10 minutes if I have all the info. I do run LS base plate currently and I haven't switched because I've never asked Landstar if I can get a quarterly report from my elogs showing the miles I ran in each state. If I can get that then I'll end up with my own base plate at some point.

    Just throwing this out there for reference.

    Is this your first truck? How much experience do you have driving and/or being a business owner? Unless you have a pile of money, a couple years experience and a good network of mentors to help you out, a big truck payment will drag you under in this market. Quickly.

    I requested a quote from Landstar on insurance for my 22 Cascadia. Next thing I know while we are logging in to LS online during orientation for the first time, there's my first settlement with a $754 debit from Gallagher for physical damage. I dumped them almost immediately. They are about twice as much as others. They are easy to get approved with and have the LS captive audience so they don't even attempt to be competitive.

    Wouldn't your IFTA report do the same as far as mileage by state? Call Fuel and Taxes and have them send you a recap every quarter.

    That's NOT the price of new equipment, that's what they want you to think is the price of new equipment.

    We put a new 2023 Cascadia into service 2 weeks ago. Looking up the price of the truck (well-equipped double-bunk condo), and it was under $162,500 with TriPac APU and DD15/DT12 combo. That's up from the previous model year by only 3%.

    Granted, this is fleet pricing with along-established dealer relationship, but not $40k worth of difference...

    You serious bro? You think a brand new business owner is going to get that truck for what your boss got it for? Did he pay cash or did you figure in what the interests on the loan and add up all the payments till paid?

    Notice his words. He didn't say lease-purchase, he said leasing. That's awful steep rent for something you'll never own.

    He’ll own it. It’s about 16K after 3 years of payments if you dont use the maintenance or leases credit account.

    from my research sfi leases these trucks but you can only sign on with there approved carriers, meaning you can't run the truck under your own authority. But for someone in the op position waiting to test out the owner op its probably a fair way to go. But I would probably get an older truck and pay less for it rates for dry even refer our pretty ####ty right now
