I grew up near the infamous Flemington, nj circle. That one was freakin huge and had so much traffic. Most of the circle I encounter today are tiny in comparison.

@krupa530 Well, I hear the alcohol is better in Britain..... perhaps ya gotta be half toasted to navigate such a menagerie......
Pennsylvania seems to be in love with these traffic circles of late. They just put a three or four in on Rt 222. I admit, they seem to allow traffic to flow a bit better on that road, and with each one they put in, they got a little better. But I can think of a few places elsewhere that they've put traffic circles in that just make no sense whatsoever. -
Some round-about traffic setups, there's ZERO way to avoid rolling the center piece, so, oh well, gas on it when heavy trailer begins dragging.

How about the Bayway circle in Elizabeth NJ?
Great idea under certain design criteria. If those are ignored, they are a death trap.
Since the mayor of Carmel Indiana has staked his reputation and future on them, you can bet the design criteria took a distant back seat to the political ambitions of this individual.RockinChair and wis bang Thank this. -
