    The technician wasn't there today. He comes in tomorrow so tomorrow I can get the SWR's set on the new antennas. Even without the SWR's set they're already an improvement over the Browning coil antennas I was running. So after tomorrow I should have some reach.

    Is it necessary to tilt antennas forward that much?

    He’s trying to look “cool”……. I could never figure out the reasoning behind that also. I always figure, the taller in height, the better, but what do I know……

    There are valid reasons to tilt. One reason would be to achieve a vertical antenna at hwy speeds. Another might be for SWR reasons. In this case IMHO it looks excessive. Your radiation pattern suffers with every degree of tilt, and in this case it looks to be approx. 45 degrees

    With that much tilt, if your antennas don't stand straight up at highway speeds you may be losing effectiveness.

    Yes, otherwise I lose them when I go under conveyors and stuff to load
