Does Stevenson Transport run teams? IF they do how many miles are they getting per week?

Is Stevens a good starter company? They are advertising in the AJC for inexperienced drivers, a 3-week CDL course & $700/week! You know what they say about when something sounds too good to be true!

I am starting my orientation with Stephens on March 7, 2010. Training pay is $350.00/wk. After you are assigned your own truck and are a company driver, starting pay is .26/mi. So... 700/.26=2692.31 miles a week. That is doable if your dispatch manager gives you the miles. :biggrin_25525: From all I have read their training seems pretty extensive.

True but not likely every single week with any company. What do they charge for training?

I am not sure what they charge for training. I went to Roadmaster and Stevens will reimburse me up to $3600 for my tuition at the rate of $100.00/month. You may want to check with a recruiter to find that info. Good luck!

Tuition is $5,000 to $7,000 depending on what advances and such you request. You can also pay it back as soon as you like or do the minimum $25 a week for like three years.
And it's $350 a week (after the three weeks classes) during your two months training OTR with two different drivers/trucks.

    KCJ and jasper_truck86 Thank this.

Smokr- do you still feel like you made the right choice with Stevens? Are you happy with things overall?

Yes and pretty much yup. Nothing is perfect, and Stevens is no exception, but the training really is much better than what friends and relatives have said what they got at other places.
Right now I'm doing what's called orientation 2, where you take more tests and road test after your first month with your first trainer over the road.
Monday or so I go out for another month with what's called the finish trainer where I do all the planning and reporting while the trainer more or less watches and drives.

    KCJ Thanks this.
