Got the truck back today after four and a half days in the shop. Once they opened the top end up to remove the camshaft they called to advise me a few more cam followers were showing wear. They advised we just replace them all while they are in there, it wouldn’t cost me anymore in labor, so I gave the go ahead. I also had them replace my front shocks while they had it in there.
I bought the camshaft from the Cummins dealer in Charlotte, I paid $2749.69. Parts and labor and sales tax from the shop was a total of $4751.68. When I dropped the truck off Monday morning I told the shop foreman and the mechanic assigned to my truck that if they could get my truck back by Friday I would give them a $500 bonus. I’m losing a $1000.00 a day in revenue everyday it’s down, so in my eyes it was money well spent.
So all told it cost $8001.37.
I booked a couple short loads for next week to make sure there are no issues with the truck.

Truck performed well this week after coming out of the shop. Currently getting empty in Charlotte, then head up to the lake for the long weekend with the rest of my fascist friends (according to our fearless leader)
I’m booked up for next week, Tuesday through Friday, three loads 2.49 all miles to the truck after LS cut. What I’ve found lately is that there are still decent loads available on the load board, but you have to be quick to book a load, because if it’s a good rate, it will be gone within minutes. I booked these three loads this morning while getting empty. But I was constantly refreshing the load board until I found a load that peeked my interest.
Hope everyone has a enjoyable and safe Labor Day weekend.cdavis188, Speed_Drums, fishonron and 11 others Thank this. -
