GA-Fife, WA Routing

I just came across that 212 with a light load and told myself I’d never run it again unless it was a similar road. STEEP pulls in a couple spots and a roller coaster in general. Stay on I-90, there is construction though in Idaho check your width….

 

I've never hauled permitted loads to the NW but...

I've taken 212 once. That was enough for me. I prefer filing up in Oak Grove, MO and taking I29N to St. Joseph and picking up 36 to run across into Denver and then up to 80, through SLC onto 84.

80 through NE is less than desirable to me. 29 is a nice drive though... 90 is a beautiful drive into Spokane...that's the route I take to see Lake Coeur d’Alene. I love driving the mountains out west.

 

Either: I-29 , I-80 , (or stay on I80 to I84 in Utah) US30 exit 66 in Wyoming. I-15 in Idaho,I-86, I-84 in to Oregon, by Hermiston I-82 in to Washington I-90 to Fife. Oregon requires a trip permit (fuel tax) and an oversize permit.

Or: I-29, I-90, US85, US212 (or stay on I-90) to I-90 TA is about the last truck stop before Metro Seattle. It's in North Bend. Washington scale is open to me it seems always. There is a rest area in Idaho before the Weigh station to check your lights before the scale.

I like both routes. 212 and 30 are limited on fuel stops. US30 has a Pilot at Wyoming/Idaho state line and a Pilot at junction with 39 and I-15.
There are a couple stops on 212 not really truck stop as they are a small gas stations with diesel. Both roads are nice to drive and very scenic. But on 212 they put a stupid circle in Lame Deer ? (I think that is the town name.) Not sure why. I rarely met another vehicle at the 4way stop signs.

Me personally id try to make it as easy as possible on yourself . id just stay on i90 and go west.. Once u get over snoqualmie and drop into seattle theres wa state hwy 18 that u can take to bypass seattle and drop to i5 not sure if they will permit you down that hwy or not... If u go i90 make sure to call port of entry in wyoming before entering for ur osow permit because they give u it at the port as far as i understand.. @kylefitzy And @FerrissWheel could clarify that better

 

There are a couple of good pulls west of Montpelier and soda springs but nothing crazy. You want to go that way to save the money on a Utah permit.
