We got a ticket because our DOT number just said DOT# not USDOT# and they freaked out... Just FYI.

I would not put it on the fuel tanks for the simple reason that this may draw unnecessary attention of a scale house personel and they may themselves start wondering if that is the right place to put it.

An old grandma working at Evanston, WY port of entry pulled me inside an Inspection bay for level 1 and for about 20 minutes she got busy with nothing else but scraping off my old IFTA stickers. The lesson I learned that day was that you are supposed to display the stickers only for a current year.

    Understandable

don’t states issue DOT numbers as well for Carrie’s that don’t cross out of that state ?

Some global warming alarmist’s probably figured out that the 2” tall letters raised co2 up by .03% so they removed the requirement.

For your health and safety just be aware that those vinyl letters and numbers have been found to cause cancer in the state of california.

I personally would put them somewhere obvious. Regardless of weather you think it’s 2 inch or readable at 50’
I had my stuff on a ss plate behind the fuel tank on a dump truck. Not on the frame but you wouldn’t ever notice it at any kind of speed. That truck got stopped more than all the rest combined by couple of hardass cops. None ever caused trouble because it’s a pretty clean truck and they got the answers they wanted but I eventually had the idea that they were looking extra hard because it had no identification they could see. The stuff got put on the door and problem solved.

That's interesting. Swift always used to tell us not to remove the old IFTA stickers. I've got old stickers on my truck now. Who doesn't?

I don’t. Peel the old one off before you put the new one on. Go to a sign shop and get some plain white vinyl, put the IFTA sticker on the vinyl, and trim around the edges. Then you can peel it off without the nasty residue from the IFTA sticker.

Never did understand why someone wanted to display an outdated sticker. Like those guys that have 10 years worth lined up like fighter pilot “ kills” on a war bird. You never leave last years expired inspection or registration stickers on display so Ifta should be no different.
@Long FLD had the best idea. Them stickers are nasty like dot tape. They seem to just melt into the paint. I’ve seen lots of old trucks still have the scars of them dang things even though they haven't had one on in 20 years.
