Yeah I know there's better out there, but the ones Ive called so far either need 160 hours of training from a school, dont hire out of the school i went to, etc.

I already have my CDL and dont plan on signing any contracts or need tuition reimbursement either.

As far as drugs or alcohol go, I dont do neither, so I am 100% good on that.

I honestly dont think I want to do that. I have another option which is Knight. But they require 4 weeks of team driving training. I spoke to the recruiter at Knight and she was very nice and answered all my questions. I think that might be an option before Western

Whoa, now I see why Western has such a crap reputation, they're going to train someone with no experience for a whole 70 hours then cut them loose to run the Northeast?

Talk about bringing a knife to a gunfight.

OP, I don't know your situation but I would say keep looking, pretty much anything has to be better then that.

    austinmike and Kolorado Thank this.

I work for Abilene Motor Express and we do have a north east gig, plenty of NYC with our Boar’s Head loads. They will probably put you with a trainer. Not sure what all you are looking for though but another option to consider.

Many of us that went through 160 hour CDL schools also rode with a trainer for 8 weeks. One week of riding with a trainer is not enough if you don't have experience driving trucks. I didn't realize you already had your CDL. How do you expect to learn the various skills and procedures if you didn't go to CDL school and you only rode with a trainer for one week? Passing the state exam is easy compared to truck driving in the real world with traffic and crowded customer property.
