    A heads up!
If any FCC driver is making a delivery using I-15 South NV to CA .
Between Whiskey Pete’s hotel & casino in Primm, NV to The California port of entry there fixing the road and is down to one lane!
There was one FCC driver that took him 5 hours just to get through there!
It’s best just to drive around there between 1:00 A.M. to 5:00 A.M.
That of course if D.O.T. don’t change there plans.

    drvrtech77 Thanks this.

That stretch of BS is the main reason I tend to run down through Boulder City to I-40 a lot, unless I can get to the border around 0200 or so.

    Silverdriver Thanks this.

That’s a good route Boulder City to I-40.

At the end of a holiday weekend, that route can add about 80 miles to a trip to the Valley, but save 5 or 6 hours. I have seen I-15 backed up to almost Tropicana in LV from the checkpoint.

    Silverdriver Thanks this.

If ya gotta take 15, you can always go to Searchlight and cut back over. It’s a ways but it comes out after the scale/bug check. Nipton Road.

    Thanks for the tip.
On my way back out of California it got worst.
It was now past the California scale and up the mountain. One section of traffic was just barely crawling while the traffic at the end was completely stop!
This was just like zodiacflyer mention above.
Even all the way to Nipton Rd.

I called my DM and said to him please let other drivers know about this!
Going through there will only burn your driving hours and fuel.

If they send me again to California I will either take the SW route or cut through Boulder City to I-40 .

Note: My google map photo it’s not really good but just to get an idea of this mess out here.

I drove Barstow to Vegas daily for years doing pneumatic bulk. More than once I turned around and said never mind they can get their load tomorrow!

    dwells40 and Silverdriver Thank this.

    Yep!
Sometimes it’s just better to turn around or find parking. Questions … I’ve seen a lot of pneumatic bulk trucks in this area… What do they haul? Are all of them hauling minerals?
What’s it like in general doing that type of driving job?

I love the idea of running nights. Less traffic, both big trucks and four wheelers, no parking issues during the day, easy fueling with no wait and no one cares if you sit there for a 30.

just wish I could get my body to agree.

    gntorres61 and dwells40 Thank this.
