Just remember they are representatives of our industry. Justified or not we all get judged by the way our counterparts carry themselves. The ones who take no pride in their appearance are the very ones who piss in the fuel island and throw bags of excrement in the parking lot.

I guess you’re ok with that too?

Hell even gym shorts I'll wear with boots. I don't throw piss bottles and trash everywhere, I can't stand that type and the trash they bring into the industry from every 3rd world country.

If you get the job done in a professional manner that's what counts

I'm well aware of what other drivers do. If someone wants to judge me based on another persons actions, that judgement is based in their own ignorance and has nothing to do with me. And really, a person that makes that type of judgement offers no value to me whatsoever, so why would I care. I hold myself a higher standard than others and don't contribute to the mess. I mind my own business and provide my value and service to the people who matter, my customers. They are the only opinions I care about.

I disagree. It does matter. This industry has an image problem. From the general public to law makers to law enforcement and even the very businesses that depend on us.

A lot of the issues regarding lack of parking to over regulation to pay all revolve around the image problem this industry has. An image problem that is largely self inflicted. It’s easy to say others opinions don’t matter, but the sad reality is that it does matter.

I'm not disagreeing with you one bit. The industry does have a image problem. But nothing will change as long as the media has made truck drivers villians. This is not 1970 anymore. It's 2022 and no body gives a rats ### about truck drivers or anybody who does a job that society depends on. I could care less what they think of me or that I'm a stereotypical truckdriver. My money spends the same as everybody else's. I'm not gonna take part in fighting the losing battle that is fixing the image of the trucking industry. I run my own operation doing my own thing, and doing it the way that I believe is the right way. And that's all I'm willing to do.

There is more slobs out on the road then there is guys who take pride like u say, and it's only going to get worse... this job has been dumbed down to a entry level skillset. Therefore, it attracts some real stupid people who can't hold down any other job... that's what truck driving is in 2022.

Your argument has no basis in reality.

If tomorrow every driver wore a uniform with nice shiny boots and a nice haircut, they wouldn't think any more of us than they do right now.
We're invisible. Like garbage collectors. We do a job......thats all. The only time they consider us is when we don't show up.

Wear what makes your day happier.

Perhaps it’s a loosing battle. Especially if no one is willing to speak out. Maybe I’m naive to think we can make a difference. Maybe I’m just a judgmental ###. Idk.

The greatest thing that will ever happen to this industry is to get rid of drivers and go full robotic. People will actually find a respect for logistics and trucking companies. Atleast for a short period of time. Most of the things that drivers complain about Will be gone. Hos, lack of parking, ####ty food and service on the road. Etc etc . All solved by robotics
