Driving slower really is the key to a stress free day. There’s much less to do and worry about cruising down the road. If you’re rushing, especially at about 69-71mph you are constantly fighting other trucks. If it’s hilly and you are heavy or light, it’s even worse. It’s like driving in the rain or snow.

For me it's a good book, preferably a spy thriller or good who-dun-it.

I smoked from age 12 through 21. Thirty some years later, I still want that cigarette. Not because I want the smoke, but because it was the relaxation ritual during my formative years. For some it's a cold one, for some it's sex, for some it's junk food.

For me, it's a good, printed on actual paper, hold in your hand, book.

For some reason, When I read a book electronically, like with Kindle, I have a hard time staying concentrated on the book. But with a real, printed on paper book, I many times have a hard time putting it down when I know I should get to sleep. But it's still the best way to read. For me, anyway.

So true. I'm local and do 60 everywhere. I rarely catch up to anyone. Only have to deal with merging traffic.

Run in place in the climate controlled truck, or get out and walk, never eat a big heavy meal, A lot of people think that gives you some comfort food, but it actually keeps you from sleeping good. Now if you eat a huge heavy meal you’ll get sleepy immediately after but a few hours later you’re gonna feel like crap and be wide awake. About an hour before I want to fall asleep I drink some sleepy time tea,

The way I see it, after driving all day mentally your brain is tired. It’s always gonna be tired it’s your body that’s not tired. Make your body tired by getting out and doing something physical and you’ll sleep like a baby an hour later.

Chamomile tea, Peppermint tea, and a product called ashwagandha in tablet form are all great.

That's like crack for me. As soon as I read that first page I'm hooked. Some books won't allow me to sleep until they're completed.

But if I turn on the television I'm out instantly.

As far as something to eat or drink? Strange as it may sound, most nights that I want to relax and get rest, without drinking beer, I'll take a 2 ounce shot of fermented pickle juice. I have no idea why it works, but for me it does.
