What are we owner operators doing about low freight rates. We are like burden ##### for these businesses, . Regardless the high cost of feul and maintenance due to inflation, the freight rates remain as it is when the cost of feul was relatively OK. Every business increased the price of their goods and services because of inflation and high cost of fuel but we nothing. We are being cheated because we literally get underpaid. I am suggesting that we should have national cap on freight rates. I think we have a close nitted union where we can seriously project and defend our interests and get our demands met. We are the wheels and backbone of the economy and Weare not getting the right reward and respect we earned and deserve. We are simply not doing nothing. It's time we go for what is rightfully ours, without us the economy will grind to a halt totally, we are being shortchanged,. We have this and it's our duty to make the best out of it. We sacrifice so much our family our kids our marriage our relationships, we should be compensated for all these. Let's do the freight rates on our own term not on the terms of brokers and shippers. If they cannot accept our terms then they do the hauling by themselves. Let's think about this and get something done.
Cheap freight rates, what are you doing?

You know I got to show up for another cheap freight thread.
Really nothing we can do.
The economy is in the toilet.
During FedEx last earnings their stock crashed 20% and they said GLOBAL recession is incoming.
Walmart, Target etc gave bad updates as well.
Too much inventory and people buying less due to inflation.
Every time the federal reserve raises interest rates the economy goes downhill more and more, meanwhile bad inflation persists currently.
Federal Reserve chairman yesterday said we need a housing correction, as in housing prices to dump 20%+.
So people's wealth there will decrease.
Won't cost less unless you are paying cash because mortgage rates skyrocketing quick.
We are setting ourselves up for an all around disaster.
Then when the economy eventually starts to recover rates will go to the moon and the calls of driver shortage again will come out.
Of course they won't mention the cheap rates prior killed off many drivers.
The only solution I see is to somehow implement a minimum wage to moving freight so not do bankrupt so many trucks when the economy goes downhill.
It's not good situation because you know drivers will be delaying maintenance, tires etc when it gets tight out here.
I bet there's drivers out here now making the choice of buying new tires or making a truck payment on their over inflated truck price they got last year.Opendeckin, onetime42 and Dino soar Thank this. -
Nashville to midwest moved for 1.80 a mile today. Gone as soon as posted . I waited till 4:55 and got a decent paying one to midwest . all those get go grabbers set the lane rate to 1.80 . Do you think that will be fair to me to run that lane for 1.80 if that's the lane rate because the "UNION" wants to run it for that price.

You must be new to this game. Nobody is forcing you to haul for rates you aren't happy with. Don't do it. Simple. Do you feel we should have a union to stop the evil shops from charging more, the mean supermarkets for raising the prices of food or those really mean gas stations for charging so much for gas? Unions are for the weak and those with political agendas. Make a real stand...drive your truck through a strategic target preferably in DC somewhere.

There has always been cheap freight, been at this almost 50, to survive you need to get out of the cheap freight circle.
Cheap is easy to find and they don’t care who you are or if you go broke, many more behind you to screw.larry2903, fordconvert, bzinger and 9 others Thank this. -
