Just wondering? I live in the state of Nevada, and when I renewed my registration, I was charged a late fee, it expired on the 31st, and renewed on the 5th, to me it makes no sense to be charged a late fee when the registration is still current! Does anyone know if any other state does this?
Having to pay a late fee, when registration not expired

The way you worded the question, it appears you were 5 days late with the renewal.
If the State’s bylaws say renewals are ‘due 30 days before expiration’ then yes, you were late.Keepforgettingmypassword, Diesel Dave, Another Canadian driver and 1 other person Thank this. -
AR tried to give me a penalty for not having tags.
Their K tag and AR Apportioned tags are different.
Apportioned you have to go to little rock or have one of the services do it on your behalf.
Regular K tag, for AR only is for like rock/sand trucks that don’t leave the state; no ifta.
they wanted to charge a penalty for no tags over a year, i showed registration and they had to call IRP to verify because they want money.
(Don’t look up how much my state still has that they didn’t give out for Covid to people, the state employees gave themselves a raise 2 times i know, heard they were going to do it another because excess money they don’t know what to fo with.)Keepforgettingmypassword and Another Canadian driver Thank this. -
IRP is done in 2 steps, both have a separate deadline. You first apply for the renewal, entering in the previous year actual miles. Then they invoice it, which is the due date you probably were on time and not charged for. The due date for the application is usually a month or more before the expiration date. Check that application deadline and I think you'll find your answer.

I pay mine quarterly in Commiefornia, “if” Im a day late, they make me sign a form saying my vehicle was parked at this address from this date to this date, no late fees. Btw, September had 30 days, not 31.
