Hey everyone just looking for some advice and what to do for my CB radio set up. I have a 97 T600 and I’m pretty much setting a CB up from scratch. I have a galaxy DX 959B. Do you guys have any equipment recommendations as far as antenna and coax cable? If there’s anything else I need please let me know ill most likely be doing it myself. Also I do a lot of driving from New Jersey to Tennessee and I come across a lot of CB radio shops anyone know which one might be the best my route is pretty much 81 and 40. Thanks in advance

I used the Hustler FG27S 48 inch antenna for years. Stainless steel and not a big wind catcher. RG8X coax will work just fine with the Galaxy 959 cb radio. The Hustler HQ27 antenna is 55 inches and will probably perform a little better than the FG27S. Sure you can get a tall skipshooter or a predator 10K, but then you have to spend more dollars on bigger mounts. I just keep it simple, but that's just me.

I see, the mods never moved your original thread to the “CB” section, gotcha.

I suggested that but it wasn't caught, should have reported it to the team.

I am not upset, I want the OP to get the right and best info, this is why I just pulled the quotes down here so to say to others to start with the antenna and coax, focus on the grounds because that will be needed and have others from this section comment on what he has done.

Neverready and Diesel Dave Thank this.

With the antenna mounting bracket so low to the ground, Ideally you would be looking for an 81 inch antenna to reach your height restriction and minimize coil losses caused by using an antenna That's too short but a coil too long. Ideally, the coil should be as short as possible and the antenna should be as long as possible within your height restriction. Sometimes it's easier to build something custom for that truck than it is to find something that's ideal and available over the counter.
